VAST Center in the News
- Read Renee Stapp’s feature in the Macarthur Safety and Justice Challenge’s blog on Indigenous People’s Day. The Overrepresentation of Indigenous People in America’s Jails: What Needs to Change?
- Check out Renee Stapp’s quote in the Report to the President: Activities and Accomplishments of the First Year of Operation Lady Justice.
“We need more funding for Tribal communities to have training and education, and the ability and funding to develop their own response which best suits their community needs. What works on the Fort Berthold reservation is not going to work within the boundaries of the Muscogee Creek Nation. We have to make sure that we allow our Nations to guide these responses that best suit their needs” (Renee Stapp, 2020).
